How to reach Chania
Chania can be easily reached either by airplane (Chania International Airport “Ioannis Daskalogiannis”; IATA: CHQ) or by ferry boat from Pireaus (Athens) to Chania (Souda Bay). Travellers should be aware that the airport located in the other major city of Crete (Heraklion International Airport, “Nikos Kazantzakis”; IATA: HER) is 140 km away from the city of Chania (approx. two-hours drive away).
By airplane
Chania International Airport (Ioannis Daskalogiannis) is the Chania's airport.
From Chania airport you can reach the city of Chania either by bus or taxi.

The cost of taxi from Chania Airport to Chania Center is about 30 euros.
There are direct charter and scheduled flights connecting Chania with many European cities such us RYANAIR and Easyjet in the summer. More airlines connecting Chania with different international airports can be found at the Chania Airport website.
Domestic flights from Athens International Airport are also frequent and are carried out by, Aegean Airlines and Sky Express.
By ferry
Ferries to Chania (Souda port) leave from Athens (Piraeus port) on a daily basis. The overnight/daytime trip with takes about 9 hours.
From the Souda Port to Chania Cetner the bus routes are operated by the Chania Urban Bus.
The Bus No. 13 starts from the Port and reach the City Cetner
The cost of taxi from Souda Port to Chania Center is about 20 euros.
Other Approach
Chania can be reached by also from the city of Heraklion situated 145 km from Chania. The bus fare is about 15€ and takes about 3 hours. A taxi costs approximately 180€ - 200€. Heraklion, being the biggest city of Crete, is directly connected with charter/scheduled flights with many European cities. Flights to/from Athens are also frequent. Ferries from Piraeus travel to Herakleon every day. The overnight/daytime trip with lines takes between 7-8 hours.
